About Us

The aims of The Longford Model Aero Club are very simple, to promote the safe flying of radio controlled model aircraft in a friendly environment, to pass on skills and knowledge, to encourage and promote the hobby to other interested individuals, especially the younger generation

We fly most Sundays, weather permitting, and on the occasional evening during the week. Most types of models are flown including trainers, fun fly, sport, scale and helicoptors. We welcome newcomers to our club and offer traing and assistance to all who may require it, we especially enjoy the company of our disabled members and their friends.

Our flying site is situated in open countryside about two miles from Longford Town center, membership of the club is open to both novice and expert alike.

The club is affiliated to the Model Aeronautics Council of Ireland, an insurance scheme is operated through them, adequate insurance cover is a requirement of membership, all visitors to the clubs flying site must produce evidence of insurance to a committee member before flying.
